Hilarious for two different reasons.
The original trailer--oh, Hitchcock. I love all the exposition and that Jimmy Stewart does the meta-, self-aware, breaking-the-fourth-wall narration. And how Grace Kelly's beauty was just out there as a selling point--check out that gauzy dressing gown! And oh, Miss Torso, you bendy gal, you.
The recut faux trailer. Just plain funny. Hitchcock just loved making those kicky rom-coms! Plus, Mickey and Sylvia in the background. Delightful.
Kind of makes me think of one of the "Brokeback Mountain" spoofs from a few years ago. My favorite was "Brokeback to the Future." MCFLY!

The Low-Budget Wonder - OR - I Can Cook, Srsly You Guys
Last week, Rainbow had a special "meal deal" that I was unable to resist. If you bought three or more pounds of chuck roast at $2.49/lb, you could get a bag of onions, a bag of potatoes and a pound of carrots free. Hello, friend! Sturdy food? Protein, carbs and veggies, all in one dish? Things that make my house smell homey? I'm there.
So tonight I made my first pot roast. Last year I made a Thanksgiving dinner on a random weeknight, so this was the next logical progression of cozy food on a chilly day.
I prepared the roast like so: in a dutch oven on the stove, I sprinkled the roast with salt, pepper, and Mrs. Dash, and drizzled on some olive oil (and Pam-ed the pan), then browned the meat until kind of crusty on all sides. I removed the roast from the pan and set it on a plate while I poured in a large can of crushed tomatoes and about a cup and a half of water and scraped up all of the brown bits from the bottom. Then I placed the roast back in and added a bunch of Mrs. Dash and a bay leaf, and cooked it, covered, in the oven at 350 degrees for one hour. Then I added the carrots and put it back in for 25 minutes, then added onions and potatoes and cooked it for one more hour. And then it was time to go "nom nom nom!"
Seriously, it is so good! I can't believe it cost less than $11 (including cost of tomatoes) and will last me for days. And that it is so delicious, for so cheap. And so filling! And now my house smells like Sunday dinner. Mmm.
I'm already planning the next cut of meat I'll buy. I have so many potatoes, onions and carrots to use up, after all, and pork loin is $1.49/lb at Rainbow this week. Ideas, ideas, y'all.

Dishy Bridesmaiding
Beth was a beautiful bride. It was raining during the ceremony and the bottom of her dress got muddy (maybe from all of the stomping around the gardens pretending to be a dinosaur bride?) but magically it all kind of disappeared by the time the reception rolled around. It was a wedding day miracle!
Let's hope the miracles continue, as I am also a clumsy bridesmaid and need to get some teriyaki wing sauce out of a silk dress. Come through for me, cleaners!
The reception was at Jax and I learned that there is a stream stocked with trout, which in my drunken post-reception state I decided I must pet. The couple out on the patio must have wondered why there was a bride posing near the fake windmill and a girl in a red dress teetering over the stream trying to touch the fish.
Also, during the reception the maid of honor's fiancee and I may have come up with the best restaurant concept ever. More on that later.
Congrats, B!
